Donna North Defeats Brownsville Rivera in Nail-Biting Thriller

Luke Fruia Stands out as Rio Sports Live’s Player of the Game. Donna North’s Louie Cavazos scored four TDs as the Chiefs finish the season with a 35-28 win over Brownsville Rivera.

Brownsville. Week 11 began play from Sams Stadium as The Donna North Chiefs defeated the Brownsville Rivera Raiders 35-28 in a thriller of a matchup. The game marked history as Donna North captured their first 32-6A win since entering the district in the last realignment in 2020. A victory, whose celebration had shades of their week one victory over La Joya Juarez-Lincoln 38-14 which snapped a 30 game losing streak.

On a chilly Thursday night which would quickly heat up as both teams got busy from the get-go. On the opening kickoff, Rivera’s Alek Guzman would return the kick, however, The Chiefs’ defense quickly set the tempo and forced a fumble. Donna North’s offense would soon take advantage as Quarterback Robert Gomez connects a 36-yard touchdown pass to standout wide receiver Deandray Quesada to open up the scoring. 

After recovering an onside kick. The Raiders tied up the ball game as lineman Arnold Rodarte recovered a loose football on the first play of the drive and took it into the endzone for a 49-yard run. Donna North’s star running back Louie Cavazos played a vital role in the Chiefs’ offense as he tacked on two touchdowns on back-to-back drives, including a 76-yard run.

 Rivera Quarterback Ramsey Rocha would lead the offensive response as he punched a 20-yard QB Draw into the endzone. However, Rivera would have to settle for six as a bad snap on the extra point would lead to a failed two-point conversion. Then on the Raiders’ next series, Rocha connects an 88-yard Touchdown pass to Wide Receiver Adrian Arriaga to make it a one-point ball game.
