District 32-6A has provided plenty of twists and turns this season, which is one of the reasons some may argue that it is among the toughest districts in the Rio Grande Valley.

Heading into tonight, there are a few things left to decide, starting with Harlingen High as it travels to Los Fresnos for a spotlight game in the RGV.

The case is quite simple for the 7-6 Lady Cards: win and force a play-in game against the 8-6 San Benito Lady Greyhounds four fourth place in 32-6A.

A loss, however, drops Harlingen High to 7-7 and its season. Harlingen High coach Josh Silva is confident heading into tonight with pitcher Audrie Sayas and a squad that he feels has slowly become more consistent.

“We have been focusing on execution in everything,” Silva said. “With Audrie (Sayas) in the circle we have a great chance. We have been cleaning up defensively and have been working on being productive with runners on base. That has kind of been our M.O. all year. We have left too many runners on base, so we have been talking about execution and approaches at the plate.”

The Lady Cards, who are 3-2 in their last five games, dropped their last meeting against Los Fresnos as the Lady Falcons slugged past the Lady Cardinals 15-4 in five innings. Sayas did not toe the rubber in their first meeting, but the right-handed senior is expected to start tonight.

As for Los Fresnos, the Lady Falcons are 12-2 and are currently in second place. With Harlingen South’s win Brownsville Hanna Monday night, the Lady Hawks are 13-2 and are in first place.

A win for Los Fresnos would not only eliminate Harlingen High but will lock in Los Fresnos in as co-district champions with South. A potential Los Fresnos loss would secure an outright district title for South.
